Abstract
This article attempts to answer some of the concerns
raised by Da Costa (1994) in his review of NEURAL NETWORKS FOR
PATTERN RECOGNITION (Nigrin, 1993). Topics discussed include: (1)
the overall aims of the book; (2) the locality requirement for
neural networks; (3) the representation of synonymous patterns; and
(4) translation, size and rotational invariant recognition.
Keywords
geometric transformation invariance, neural network
models, pattern recognition.
